Ice Cream Man on Trial for Allegedly Killing Two Brothers: Latest Update

In 2010, on Thanksgiving Day, Michael, a former ice cream truck driver, was accused of killing two brothers and injuring four others in a shooting incident that took place in the Ocean Mist neighborhood in Ruskin, Florida.

The motive behind the shooting was Keetley’s search for a man named “Kreeper,” whom he believed was responsible for shooting him in an earlier incident.

However, prosecutors alleged that Keetley had gone on a revenge mission and mistakenly targeted the men who were not involved in the earlier incident.

The former ice cream truck driver, Michael Keetley, pleaded not guilty to six charges, including two counts of first-degree murder and four counts of attempted first-degree murder.

The shooting incident, which occurred on Thanksgiving Day in 2010, left two brothers dead and four others injured in the Ocean Mist neighborhood in Ruskin, Florida. Keetley claimed he was searching for a man named “Kreeper” when he mistakenly targeted the victims.

The case went to trial in 2018, but it ended in a mistrial. The new trial was initially scheduled to begin in 2021 and later moved to March 13, 2023. However, there’s no update on the trial yet. Keetley’s defense team argued that he was physically unable to shoot a gun with his right hand due to a previous injury.

However, his ex-partner, Norma Towers, testified that she had seen Keetley using his right hand for tasks such as target practice, feeding animals, and operating a computer.

Keetley is facing two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Juan and Sergio Guitron, and four additional counts of attempted first-degree murder for injuring the other four men.

None of the men involved in the previous robbery and shooting of Keetley were among the victims on Thanksgiving Day.

The trial is ongoing, and prosecutors suggested that they might wrap up their case by Thursday.
