Mike McDaniel’s Father Passes Away
Mike McDaniel lost his Father at the age of four. While McDaniel is a U.S. citizen and holds a green card, there is no information about his mother’s ethnicity on his birth certificate. McDaniel grew up in a low-income family and faced many challenges during his childhood.
Raised by a single mother, Donna McDaniel, who is white, and his Father was black. His mother’s early life was spent on a farm in eastern Colorado. Unfortunately, tragedy struck when her spouse passed away in a car accident when she was in her twenties.
It is believed that Mike McDaniel’s father was of African American descent. However, when Donna, Mike’s mother, married someone of a different race, many of her relatives cut ties with her. As a result, much of Mike’s maternal family is unknown to him. This family rift created additional challenges for Mike and his mother during his upbringing, which was already difficult due to their low-income status and the loss of his father at a young age. Despite these challenges, Mike has gone on to achieve success as a coach in the NFL.
Meet Mike Mcdaniel: Raised by a Single Mother, Donna McDaniel
Mike McDaniel has always credited his mother, Donna McDaniel, for being his sole support and the reason behind all of his accomplishments. Mike did not have the chance to meet his biological father during his childhood, and he grew up in a low-income family. In fact, he had to take out a substantial loan to cover his Yale tuition.
Donna worked hard as a single mother and held various jobs, including working as a credit consultant at Monfort Beef in Greeley and for a company that sold meat and commodities, all while raising Mike.

Although McDaniel’s focus is on coaching the San Francisco 49ers, he has not forgotten his childhood dream of becoming a head coach.
Mike McDaniel attended Yale University where he played wide receiver on the football team and majored in history. During the summers, he would return home and work with the Broncos. After graduating from Yale, he was hired as an intern by former Broncos coach Mike Shanahan.
