Fotios ‘Freddy’ Geas Indicted In Whitey Bulger Murder- Who Is He And Why Was He In Prison?

On Thursday, Federal prosecutors announced that three former prisoners were indicted for the murder of an inmate gangster.

They have been charged with conspiring with the two Massachusetts inmates to carry out the brutal killing of infamous South Boston gangster James “Whitey” Bulger, who was fatally beaten to death in his cell at a West Virginia prison in 2018.

At the Hazelton jail, where staff members and supporters had long issued warnings about hazardous conditions, Bulger was the third prisoner to pass away in six months.

According to the MassLive report, Bulger’s family filed a lawsuit against the Federal Bureau of Prisons and 30 unidentified prison staff members concerning his murder.

Whitey was stated to have “deliberately sent to his death” at the prison known as “Misery Mountain,” according to the victim’s family.

Authorities claim that Bulger was repeatedly hit in the head by Geas and DeCologero. Additionally, they were accused of abetting first-degree murder and an attack that caused significant bodily harm.

A further murder case against Geas brought by a federal prisoner serving a life sentence could result in the death penalty being applied

At the same time, McKinnon was taken into custody yesterday in Florida, where authorities claim he was on federal supervised release at the time of the indictment.

Kelly stated, “These allegations, while serious, do not warrant his detention in total lockdown for more than three years.”

The lawyer said that he hoped the probe was fair and that, if blame was deserved, it wasn’t meant to shift away from the institution and its employees.

The 55-year-old continues to be a jail in Hazelton, and DeCologero is being detained in a different federal prison.
