Why Is Chuck Todd Leaving MSNBC And Going To NBC?

Nothing much has happened to Chuck Todd except that he is supposed to be transferred from MSNBC to NBC News Now. The NBC News statement reads that the shift is an inevitable process of the Network’s growing commitment to a live streaming service.

Meet the Press Now, hosted by Todd, will air every Monday through Friday at 4 p.m. ET. The performance will be available to watch online beginning Monday, June 6, 2022.

The program started on Twitter on Sunday, May 22, and it will be “pre-empted this week for NBC’s coverage of the Premier League.”

The program promised to return “next week.” MSNBC Reports will replace the 1 p.m. hour, which veteran anchor and correspondent Chris Jansing will host.

MSNBC has leaned on the Reports brand for its dayside program in recent months, mirroring the newscast’s more basic style.

Chuck Todd is not exactly leaving MSNBC and going to NBC. He is being shifted to NBC. His show, Meet the Press, is also being shifted as part of NBC News’ bigger push towards streaming, with the corporation investing in its NBC News Now streaming platform.

In addition to the Todd’s show, NBC News Now said Friday that NBC News contributor Vicky Nguyen will co-anchor the 11 a.m.-1 p.m. hour with Morgan Radford, with Aaron Gilchrist anchoring the 2-4 p.m. hour.

Chuck Todd’s Meet the Press Daily has been aired since 2015 and just moved to the early afternoon time slot in 2020.

With a schedule adjustment for Meet the Press Now, the Network intends to fill the traditional 1 p.m. slot.

The executive producer of MTP Daily, Melissa Frankel, is also rumored to be taking on the same role at Meet the Press Now.

On the other hand, Chuck will preside specials on each major primary night throughout the midterm election season, and the show will begin with an audio showcase.

In a statement, Noah Oppenheim said, “Since our inception, we’ve been committed to offering the finest of NBC News’ journalism, free, to streaming platforms everywhere.”

Chuck was among one of the first broadcast anchors to see the enormous potential of streaming, and bringing Meet the Press’ daily brand to NBC News Now strengthens the platform’s standing as the destination for streaming news.”
