Why Is Marcellus Wiley Leaving Speak For Yourself? Where Is He Now?

Marcellus Wiley is a former American football defensive end who spent ten seasons with four teams in the National Football League.

Wiley was selected by the Buffalo Bills out of Columbia University with the 52nd overall pick in the second round of the NFL Draft in 1997.

He spent four seasons with the Bills before playing for the San Diego Chargers, Dallas Cowboys, and Jacksonville Jaguars. As a San Diego Chargers player in 2001, he was chosen for the AFC Pro Bowl team.

During the afternoon drive, he co-hosted SportsNation on ESPN and a sports talk radio show on ESPN at 710AM in Los Angeles. He currently appears on Fox Sports 1’s Speak For Yourself.

Similarly, Wiley published Never Shut Up: The Life, Opinions, and Unexpected Adventures of an NFL Outlier in 2018.

Why Is Marcellus Wiley Leaving Speak For Yourself?

According to The New York Post, Marcellus is quitting Speak for Yourself, but it’s unclear what will happen to him at the network. It is also currently unknown whether Wiley will accept Fox Sports’ offer for a different position at the network.

The host is spending some much-needed family vacation time while considering his future options. Joy Taylor, co-host of The Herd, has featured on Speak for Yourself alongside former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho, David Helman, and Bucky Brooks in the interior.

Wiley, however, has remained silent on the subject and is taking a big break from his responsibilities.

Previously, FS1 hired Wiley in 2018 to appear on “Speak for Yourself” with Jason Whitlock. Wiley is a well-known broadcaster who played defensive end for the Bills, Chargers, Cowboys, and Jaguars from 1997 to 2006. Acho joined in 2020 after Whitlock left the program. Wiley was a longtime radio and television partner of Max Kellerman at ESPN.

Where Is Marcellus Wiley Now?

Marcellus is on vacation with his family at the time of writing. On August 11, he posted an Instagram video of his children and wife with the caption, “Getting all F’s on my report card!” Faith, fatherhood, family, friends, football, and good times.”

He appeared to still be on vacation in a video of himself shooting hoops that he posted five days later.

Following the post, many of his fans commented on it. One user wrote, “K. Cool. Now please come back to broadcast life,”. Similarly, another commented, “Bro, I know you living your blessed life. Real talk is a wrap at Fox.” On the other hand, Wiley has not responded to any of these questions. 

Is Marcellus Wiley Joining Colin Cowherd On The Herd?

Wiley hasn’t said anything about joining Colin Cowherd on The Herd.

According to sources, there have been serious discussions about pairing Acho with “The Herd” co-host Joy Taylor, with ex-NFL running back LeSean McCoy dubbed the favorite to join them on what is expected to be a football-heavy show. A deal with McCoy has yet to be finalized.

Moreover, Fox Sports has made Wiley an offer for a different role at the network, but it is currently unknown whether Wiley will accept the offer. The host may take a break from his job right now to consider what position would be best for his career. He will reveal his choice after some time.
